Terms and Conditions

  1. Free First Lesson

Every student’s first lesson is 30 minutes long and free of charge. This provides a risk free opportunity to see if Guitar With Jake is the right fit. If the student would like to continue with paid lessons after this, options will be discussed at the end of the lesson.

  1. Fees and Payment

After a free first lesson, students can choose to either pay as you go (PAYG) or purchase a Lesson Bundle. Compared to the PAYG rate, a bundle of 5-9 lessons will be discounted at 10%, and a bundle of 10 lessons or more at 20%.

PAYG payments are to be made in person via EFTPOS on the day of the lesson. All major debit and credit cards are acceptable. Lesson Bundles are paid for in advance the week prior.

  1. Non-Standard Lesson Options

A standard lesson schedule is one 30 minute lesson each week. If a student would like to have lessons longer than 30 minutes, more than one lesson per week, fortnightly instead of weekly lessons or any other modification to the standard schedule, they can do so.

Pricing for non-standard lesson schedules will be calculated according to the standard equivalent hours.

Example 1: If a student wanted 5 lessons, but prefer 1 hour instead of 30 minutes each week, they would receive a 20% discount as if they would have purchased a 10 lesson bundle, since both are the same in terms of total hours (5 hours).

Example 2: If a student wanted 10 lessons, but on a fortnightly schedule instead of a weekly schedule, they would still pay the same price as a standard 10 lesson bundle, since the total hours are also the same (5 hours).

  1. Student Cancellation

In the event that a student needs to cancel their lesson, there is no minimum notice period. Simply notify the teacher at your earliest convenience. The student can either wait until the following lesson to resume learning, or reschedule to a time that suits.

  1. Teacher Cancellation

In the rare event that the teacher is unable to facilitate your lesson, you will be notified as soon as possible. Missed lessons due to teacher cancellation can be either given a full refund if payment has already been made, or can be rescheduled to the earliest convenient time.

  1. Student Lateness

If a student arrives late to a lesson, the lesson will still end at the scheduled time. No extra time will be provided to make up for lateness.

  1. Refunds

Aside from exceptional circumstances or teacher cancellation, refunds cannot be issued once payment has been made. Exceptional circumstances include serious safety concerns for the student, long term sickness or injury or natural disasters. In any other case, lessons can be rescheduled rather than refunded.

  1. Changes to Scheduling and Availability

It is encouraged that students maintain a regular lesson time each week. After a regular time is confirmed, any changes to the student’s availability must be communicated in person or via email. If 3 weeks have gone by with no attendance, then that time slot may be filled by another student if it is in demand.

  1. Student Safety

The safety and wellbeing of students is of the highest priority. Strict procedures between teacher and student are in place to ensure a high safety standard is being met. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Asking for permission before physically touching a student when correcting posture or hand placement.
  • Ensuring appropriate distance is kept between student and teacher during lessons.
  • Video recordings of lessons for documentation and reference purposes (opt in).
  • Students are never left unattended.
  • Students and Teachers are to be dressed in a professional manner.
  • Teachers must hold a working with children check by law.
